The building housing the School of Veterinary Medicine and the Veterinary Teaching Hospital is on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the corner of River Road and Skip Bertman Drive (formerly South Stadium Drive). We are right next to the levee of the Mississippi River, west of the LSU football stadium. The central part of the LSU campus is closed to public vehicular traffic from 7:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The four sets of directions below will get you from Interstate-10, I-110, I-12, or LA 30 directly to the LSU SVM, avoiding the streets closed to outside traffic.
- Coming from the west on Interstate 10, crossing over the Mississippi River Bridge
- Coming from the north (St. Francisville, Natchez, or from U.S. Hwy 61)
- Coming from the south on I-10 (Gonzales, New Orleans) or from the east on I-12 (Denham Springs, Hammond)
- Coming from the south on Highway 30 (Gonzales)
#1. Coming from the west on Interstate 10, crossing over the Mississippi River Bridge
a. Immediately after crossing over the Mississippi River Bridge, take the first exit, 155A, and follow the signs to Nicholson Drive (La. 30).
b. At the bottom of the ramp turn left (south) onto Nicholson Drive.
c. Drive south on Nicholson about 1.8 miles to the intersection with S. Stadium Road & Skip Bertman Drive (fifth traffic light; Tiger Stadium is on the left), then turn right (west, toward the river) onto Skip Bertman Drive.
c. Drive about 0.4 miles west to the School of Veterinary Medicine on the right near the intersection of Skip Bertman and River Road.
For the School, enter the first driveway on the right. Please park in designated Visitor parking spaces or in unmarked spaces in the large lot on the east side of the building.
For the Small Animal Clinic, the entrance is the third driveway on the right. Please use the designated parking spaces directly in front of the clinic; do not park in the parking lot on the side of the building, as that is employee parking.
#2. Coming from the north (St. Francisville, Natchez, or from U.S. Hwy 61)
a. Traveling south on I-110, exit left at Government Street (La. 73, Exit 1A); at the bottom of the ramp, turn right (west) onto Government.
b. Drive nine blocks to St. Philip Street (fifth traffic light) and turn left (south).
c. Follow St. Philip St. until it crosses under the Interstate just past the traffic light, then bear right onto Nicholson Drive (La. 30).
d. Drive south on Nicholson about 1.9 miles to the intersection with S. Stadium Road & Skip Bertman Drive (fifth traffic light; Tiger Stadium is on the left), then turn right (west, toward the river) onto Skip Bertman Drive.
e. Drive about 0.4 miles to the School of Veterinary Medicine on the right near the intersection of Skip Bertman and River Road.

a. Follow I-10 West into Baton Rouge past the exits for College Drive, Acadian Thrwy., Dalrymple Dr., and Louise St. Bear right onto I-110, then take Exit 1A to Government St. (La. 73).
b. At the bottom of the ramp, turn left (west) onto Government St.

#4 Coming in on Highway 30 (Gonzales)
a. Drive north on Nicholson Drive (La. 30) to the intersection with Stadium Road & Skip Bertman Drive (Tiger Stadium is on the right) and turn left (west, toward the river) onto Skip Bertman Drive (shown as S. Stadium Dr. on the map above).
b. Drive about 0.4 miles to the School of Veterinary Medicine on the right near the intersection of Skip Bertman and River Road.
For the School, enter the first driveway on the right. Please park in designated Visitor parking spaces or in unmarked spaces in the large lot on the east side of the building.

If you arrive after hours, there is an intercom button outside the front door that will alert the emergency staff, who will come and open the door for you.
