The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine (LSU SVM) is hosting a veterinary dermatology conference entitled, “Dermatology: Pruritus Plus” on Sunday, November 6.
Each year, the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine welcomes over 4,000 visitors as part of its Open House. These visitors interact with more than 60 exhibit booths and programs. Animal and veterinary groups are invited to participate in this annual event, which will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine is calling for entries for its 25th Annual International Exhibition on Animals in Art, which opens on March 24, 2012, in the SVM Library. The show then runs through April 29.
Ariel Sully is not your typical 8-year-old girl. Instead of birthday presents, she asked her friends to bring donations for the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine to her party.
During their summer break, three LSU veterinary students embarked for Honduras for a mission trip sponsored by Christian Veterinary Missions. Meredith Geltz (Class of 2013), Laura Tharp (Class of 2015) and AuVian Williams (Class of 2013) volunteered to spend two weeks helping animals in the Olancho region of Honduras.
In December 2005 a 3-month-old dolphin became entrapped in a crab trap line near Cape Canaveral, Fla., in the Indian River Lagoon. “Her mother had likely learned to scavenge the bait from crab traps and as Winter lingered above she became entrapped in the float line,” said Dr. David Kilpatrick (LSU SVM 1988). The movie, Dolphin Tale, tells the story of Winter’s rescue and recovery.
